The Eureka College Student Alliance for a Greener Environment (SAGE) will host a Save Our Awesome Planet (SOAP) Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. April 6 at Rinker Amphitheater. The rain location is the Cerf Center.
The event will include live music, artists, educators and vendors. Local farmers and businesses will offer produce and products. Speakers will be from Forest Park Nature Center, the Heart of Illinois Beekeepers Association and other groups. Music will be provided by The Sites, Lyndon Perry, A Metropolitan Guide, John Till and Corey Tanner Sumner.
“Special effort has gone into finding vendors, educators and bands from within a one-hour drive of Eureka,” said SAGE president Amanda Christenson. “This, while reducing the carbon footprint of gasoline usage and greenhouse gas emissions, allows the SOAP Fest to showcase the true local flavor of the Eureka area.”
The event will include a waste collection of broken and outdated electronics by the Association for the Developmentally Disabled of Woodford County.
