2013 National Survey of Student Engagement highlights engaged learning at Eureka


NSSE Overview

NSSE – National Survey of Student Engagement logoThe NSSE is a national survey that measures the extent to which college students are engaged in their education. Eureka College has participated in the NSSE since __ with increasingly promising results. Based on the 2013 NSSE results, Eureka students demonstrate an exceptional level of engagement.

Now in its 13th year, NSSE is the most comprehensive assessment of effective practices in higher education, including data this year from 285,000 students at 546 U.S. colleges and universities. EC students gave high marks to their experiences on each of five benchmarks of excellence:

  • Level of academic challenge
  • Active and collaborative learning
  • Student-faculty interaction
  • Enriching educational experiences
  • Supportive campus environment

The NSSE survey asked randomly selected first-year students and seniors key questions about their educational experiences. A total of 59 EC first-years and 80 EC seniors participated in the survey. EC students rank the following engagement experiences in the top 10% of all colleges and universities surveyed:
