Eureka College Offers a variety of Arts Programs

Each major in the Fine and Performing Arts division benefits from Eureka College’s liberal arts emphasis. Students gain specific skills related to their major as well as broad, flexible skills like critical thinking and collaboration – creating a holistic educational experience. The Fine and Performing Arts majors fit into one of the three areas of study, Art, Music and Theatre Arts & Drama.

Art

  • Designed for diverse media exploration
  • Concentration in 2D or 3D production
  • Courses in art history, gallery experiences and special topics provide a foundation
  • Historic context and contemporary issues serve as a frame of reference

Music

  • Provide opportunities for enrichment through a variety of musical experiences including classroom study, group and private lessons and ensemble participation
  • The major provides a foundation for further study in graduate school and for careers in performance, composition and education
  • The minor provides opportunities for career in arts management, music broadcasting and music business (when combined with Business or Communication major)

Theatre Arts & Drama

  • A general course of study, because the discipline demands a robust, well-rounded understanding of history, literature, theory and application of various art forms
  • Provides students with critical thinking skills, powers of observation, liberal arts preparation for advanced and graduate study
  • Offers overseas study with major theatre groups
