Neuroscience

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates that Neuroscience and related fields will experience greater than average job growth in the United States over the next decade.  The minor in Neuroscience at Eureka College is open to all students but is targeted to Biology and Chemistry majors who may wish to specialize in the field but need additional understanding of brain function, or Psychology majors with an interest in the field who may need a greater background in biology and chemistry.

Requirements for a Minor in Neuroscience

A minimum of 26 hours of coursework, consisting of the following:

     
BIO141W Principles of Biology I 4
BIO142 Principles of Biology II 4
PSY101 General Psychology 3
PSY285 Psychology of Learning 3
PSY286 Sensation and Perception 3

Plus 3 of the following, at least one of which must be outside of PSY and at least two of which must be at the 300-499 level:

     
BIO281 Animal Behavior 3
BIO320 Microbiology 4
BIO325 Immunology 4
BIO421 Biochemistry II 3
CHM310 Medicinal Chemistry 3
CHM321 Biochemistry 3
PSY330 Human Memory 3
PSY360 Biological Psychology 3
PSY3xx Cognitive Neuroscience 3
TOTAL:   26-28
