Frequently asked questions

How will class times be organized around my full time schedule?

The full program will take 20 months to complete with classes held every other weekend.

The program duration is five successive semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer; Fall and Spring). In each semester, you will complete three courses offered one-at-a-time and a 3-credit practicum course. Every course will meet for three alternating weekends.

Classes meet Friday evenings from 5:30–9:30 and Saturdays from 8:00am–5:00pm. Breakfast and lunch is provided on Saturday. We also arrange for your text book purchases.

The practicum hours are opportunities for experiential learning that take place out of the classroom. Students will engage in projects that require them to apply what they have learned to real-world problems faced by area organizations and by the companies or institutions at which the students themselves are employed. Practicum hours will be distributed across the five semesters.

Course Sequence and Program Course Descriptions

Will the workload be more than I can handle?

You can do it because you will have support. You will join the program as part of a cohort, a contingent of students who enroll in and complete each course together as a group. You will work with the same group of students throughout the duration of the program. These are students who are also working full-time and caring for families. Earning a college degree does require hard work, commitment, discipline and focus. The Organizational Leadership program has a 95% completion rate. Almost everyone who begins the effort graduates.

Will faculty be available to assist me?

Yes. A Eureka College professor will serve as your advisor throughout the program. Your advisor will be available on weekends when you are on campus (Faculty is also available by phone and email).

What financial aid will be available for me and is there a payment plan?

Yes. The College will work with you to explore opportunities for state and federal financial aid in the form of MAP grants, Pell grants, and loans. You should start that process by completing a financial aid application, which is located online here.

The cost structure stays constant throughout the program. The program price includes tuition, fees, textbooks, supplies, as well as breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Payment is due at the beginning of each semester.

Will I have my own computer account and email address?

Yes. You will receive a campus network username and email address at orientation. You will also receive online access to your Eureka College records (e.g., courses, grades, transcripts).

What is the difference between an Organizational Leadership major and a Business Administration major?

Business administration or management is a discipline focused on the management of business operations. Business administration programs teach students about the common functions; planning, organizing, staffing, directing, controlling, and budgeting, in organizations. Students learn how to use these processes to achieve effective organization performance.

Leadership is the ability to successfully integrate and motivate individuals in an organization to effect change or accomplish goals. Organizational Leadership students will acquire a working knowledge (theoretical and applied) of the organizational processes and systems common to all organizations (profitable, not for profit, family owned). In addition, students will be able to utilize organizational processes and system to help them lead. The curriculum includes courses about leadership theories and requires practice of leadership. Effective leadership requires effective communication. The Organizational Leadership program includes courses in communication. The leadership curriculum is designed to help you become more effective in any organizational position which you choose.
