Uniquely Eureka Experience

“I attended youth conference at EC all four years I was in high school. EC’s relation with the Christian Church was the only reason I didn’t look anyplace else to further my education. EC provided me with a job in the summer between graduating from high school and starting my freshman year in college. Alvin Thomas, my advisor, heightened my love for accounting and got me interested in rental real estate.

I was also interested in playing football. During my sophomore year, I contacted mono and was sent home to get well. After I recovered, I enlisted in the US Army for three years and spent two years in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and a year in France helping build airplane hangars and lengthening runways during the Berlin Crisis. After my discharge from the Army, I came back to EC, primarily to get activated in the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and met Barb the first week of school.

In 2015, Barb and I were part of our 50-year reunion at EC. Along with us were the other two couples that were married the same weekend at the Eureka Christian Church, two couples that were married in 1965 after graduation, and one couple that married the summer before – a total of 301 years of married life. All six couples met at EC, all six couples are alive and living with their mate that they met at EC.

Barb and I have helped in recruiting student for EC since we graduated and point out all the advantages available at a small school.”
