The 5th annual Cynthia Atterbury Piano Duet Recital will be at 4 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Chapel at Eureka College. It is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
Thirteen pianists will perform works for two pianos and four hands on a Steinway concert grand piano and a Vose and Sons 7-foot grand piano, which was donated by Eureka College Trustee R. Rennie Atterbury III. The gift was made in memory of Atterbury’s wife, Cynthia Goldsmith Atterbury, who owned the piano. It was constructed in Boston in 1911. It has been rebuilt and is encased in the original fruitwood cabinetry.
Pianists will include Eureka College students Darian Wohlrabe, Kelsey Henry, Jason Punke, Jacob Geiger and Brooke Poling; alumni Sara Dvorsky, Mark Kline, Moriah Bade and Tyler Bishop; and faculty Pamela Bates, Asako Bishop and Tony Glass; and Amy Glass.
The program will include works by Norman Dello Joio, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Reinhold Gliere, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Robert Schumann, Antonin Dvorak, Isaac Albeniz and others.
The recital is sponsored by the Division of Fine and Performing Arts and the Music Department. For more information, contact Eureka College music professor Pamela Bates at (309) 467-6398 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
