The Eureka College Theater Department will kick off its season with “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised]” Sept. 26–28 and Oct. 3–5 in Pritchard Theatre, 300 E. College Ave. Shows will be at 7:30 p.m.
Eureka College theater professor Marty Lynch will direct the tongue-in-cheek homage to Shakespeare that covers all 37 of his plays.
The play “Hamlet” will be performed by the titular character in a self-proclaimed world record of 43 seconds, but then other actors will break the record by performing the play backwards in 42 seconds, Lynch said.
“Literally every one of Shakespeare’s comedies will be performed simultaneously,” Lynch said, “and there will be a cooking show unlike anything you’ve ever seen or wanted to see.”
Improvisation and audience participation are key components to the production, which is rated PG-13.
Cast members are Coleman Payne of El Paso, Anna Dabrowski of Mansfield, Joanna Guevara of Rockford, Jacob Geiger of Morton, Kristen Franz of Metamora and Joshua Moore of Goodlettsville, Tenn.
Tickets are $5. For reservations, call the box office at (309) 467-6363.
