EUREKA, Ill. – Janelle Reents, a 1992 graduate of Eureka College and President of Monical Pizza Corporation, will serve as Eureka College’s May 2017 commencement speaker on Saturday, May 6 at the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center. Commencement will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Reents has led Monical’s Pizza as President since May 2008, the fifth President in company history and the first female president. Her current role is a culmination of nearly three decades with the company.
“While at Eureka College, I acquired a strong foundation for learning,” Reents said. “The College also instilled in me the importance of taking risks, embracing change and serving others. These principles guide me today in both my personal and professional life. I am honored to share my story with the graduating class of 2017.”
Prior to her current position, Reents served as Co-President, Director of Franchise Marketing, Guest Satisfaction Team Leader, and Employee Satisfaction Team Leader. In 2013, she was named the first female to the Board of Directors. In all, Reents has experienced all facets of the pizza industry ranging from restaurant operations, franchise relations, human resources, distribution, training, finance and marketing since joining the company at age 17.
Her 29-year career with the company has given her the opportunity to work with the restaurant teams, franchisees, vendors and stakeholders that share the same mission — “People Pleasing People”.
“Eureka College is proud to be a significant part of Janelle’s transformational journey which led her to the top leadership position with the Monical Pizza Corporation,” Eureka College President Jamel Santa Cruze Wright said. “There is no better person to deliver an inspirational address to our graduates as she is a clear, shining example of the superior outcomes our alumni experience.”
Reents graduated from Eureka College Cum Laude in 1992 with a B.A. in business administration. During her years at EC, Reents was a member of Pi Gamma Mu, Delta Delta Pi and captain of the cheerleading squad. She was also a Presidential Scholar at EC and received a scholarship to complete a portion her of coursework abroad in Japan.
Following graduation from Eureka, Reents went on to receive an M.B.A. at the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1994. While completing her degree, Reents worked as a financial analyst for a mutual fund company.
“Janelle’s story will resonate with our graduates as she literally sat where they will be sitting,” President Wright continued. “Like Janelle, our 2017 graduates have had a uniquely Eureka experience that has prepared them well, and will lead to fulfilling lives and some of the same noteworthy success that Janelle has experienced.”
