Eureka College to Host Campus-Wide Service Project For MLK Day
EUREKA – Eureka College staff and students will participate in a campus-wide day of service as part of Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 21, 2019.
The College aspires for the involvement of at least 200 members of the campus community to collect items to put together 500 hygiene kits in support of efforts by Church World Service in response to needs both domestically and internationally. The goal also includes an effort to raise a minimum of $1,000 to cover shipping costs.
The kits will be assembled on Jan. 21, 2019. Collection efforts have been ongoing since November and students have been challenged to create teams among their residential floors, clubs/organizations, and athletic teams in collecting items and for assembly of the kits.
Individual residents, community organizations, churches, and businesses are invited to join Eureka College in the cause. Questions may be directed to Chaplain Bruce Fowlkes, Dr. Duane Bruce, or Ms. Shari Rich, in the Student Services, Engagement, and Leadership Office at Eureka College or by calling 309-467-6420.
