Eureka College was founded by abolitionists from Kentucky who were members of a religious movement known as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and were committed to providing young people a broad, liberal education. These pioneers believed in an education infused with values as a basis for leadership. Chartered by the Illinois Legislature in 1855, Eureka was the first college in the state and third in the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis. Eureka College was designated by the National Park Service as a Campus Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places in June 2010.

Important Residence Life Information

Complete Applicable Requirements by Friday, November 20

All residential students must review and complete the appropriate Thanksgiving Break procedures. Whether you are leaving campus or requesting to remain on campus, please follow the instructions below.

1. Leaving Campus

Students leaving campus must notify Residence Life by completing the departure form.

Larger belongings and personal furniture may remain in your room.
Take personal items and anything you will need during break.
Submitting the form helps Residence Life plan maintenance, repairs and room inventory.

2. Staying on Campus

Prior approval from Residence Life is required. Students may not remain in campus housing without approval.

Important Deadlines:
November 6: Housing Request Due
November 10: Housing Confirmation Verification
November 20: Approval Notices Posted

Approved students will receive a notice on their residence hall door and be included on the approved resident list.
Food pantry access will be available. Review dining and pantry hours.
Continue following Residence Life policies and campus safety expectations.

3. Required RA Checkout

Before leaving campus, schedule a checkout appointment with your RA.

Review and complete the Thanksgiving Break Checkout Form together.
Sign the form.
Your RA will review and sign to finalize checkout.
