Haley McCurley Selected EC Disciples Leadership Program Fellow
EUREKA — Eureka College has selected Haley McCurley of Cyril, Oklahoma, as the Disciples Leadership Program fellow for the 2019 class.
The fellowship, based on leadership, academic excellence and commitment to explore a life of faith-based servant leadership, includes a full-tuition scholarship and two on-site mentorships.
The Disciples Leadership Program is an on-campus, residential program, so fellows are expected to live on campus, assist in special projects, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and be a positive leader and representative of Eureka College and the program itself.
McCurley, a recent graduate of Cyril High School, has been an involved student and member of her community and church throughout her adolescent and high school career.
"Eureka College has benefited from the truly outstanding students who made the trek from Oklahoma,” Eureka College Chaplain Rev. Bruce Fowlkes said. “Students and alums are Eureka's " résumé," and I'm so excited that Haley is joining us."
McCurley previously served as student council treasurer and participated in student council for four years. She was also the academic team captain for four years, an active member of the Cyril First Christian Church youth group for eight years and was on the Regional Youth Council for two years.
At Eureka, she plans to major in chemistry and participate in the Pre-Veterinary Pre-Professional Program. She will minor in either philosophy or religion to discern the relation of faith to her vocation.
