Eureka College Library Holding Homecoming Book Sale
EUREKA – Eureka College’s Melick Library is holding a book sale for Homecoming Week.
The sale will run from Monday to Thursday 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Masks are required to enter the building during the sale unless otherwise stated on the front doors.
“Since we did not have a sale in 2020, it will be one of our largest sales in nearly 20 years," Public and Access Services Librarian Kelly Fisher said. "There will be thousands of books on sale due to collection weeding activities and donations that have been received."
Sale items will include a large assortment of fiction and non-fiction with the areas of Religion, Philosophy, Psychology, History, Sociology and English/Literature especially well-represented.
Hardcover books will cost $1 and paperbacks will cost 50 cents. DVDs will cost $2 each and CDs will cost $1. There will also be a specially priced section of rare/collectible and more valuable books for sale. A bag sale for regularly priced books will be held all day on Saturday. The cost will be $3 for 1 bag or two bags for $5. Non-book items, such as maps, art prints, DVDs and CDs will be half off on Saturday as well. All proceeds will go towards funding special projects to support the library.
The library would welcome donations of gently used books and audio-visual materials for their sale and/or for enhancing their collection.
“Donations of items for potential use in our collection and archives are very welcome throughout the year,” Fisher said.
The library is also seeking donations of new or complete jigsaw puzzles and board games to help build their main floor student relaxation lounge. Donations may be brought to the circulation desk during the library's regular hours of operation.
