Eureka College was founded by abolitionists from Kentucky who were members of a religious movement known as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and were committed to providing young people a broad, liberal education. These pioneers believed in an education infused with values as a basis for leadership. Chartered by the Illinois Legislature in 1855, Eureka was the first college in the state and third in the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis. Eureka College was designated by the National Park Service as a Campus Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places in June 2010.

Run with Reagan: Celebrate the Fall of the Wall

Join Eureka College on Saturday, November 8, 2025, as we celebrate the anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall with our annual Run with Reagan event. Participants are invited to run or walk in Ronald Reagan’s footsteps across Eureka’s historic campus.

The morning includes a 5K race, 1-mile walk, and Kids Dash (12 and under), followed by a free pancake breakfast for all registered participants. Awards will be presented for top finishers in multiple age groups.
