Success is a noun that notes the achieving of the results wanted or hoped for: something that achieves positive results – according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary. At Eureka College when the words student success are used what does that mean tangibly?
First, student success is reflected in the lives of our alumni. Consider, Russell Page ’09, CIO Hagerty Insurance, Dr. Christina Nixon ’02 V.P., Medical Director of IMsci, Jordan Morris ’18, Regional Manager of Stations Operations Allegiant Air, and Mike Sain, II ’16, Assistant General Manager Osceola Magic NBA G League team. All of these graduates, who graduated in the past two decades, have risen to become significant leaders in their organizations through determination and hard work. They all started here at Eureka College.
Second, student success is evidenced in the lives of our students such as Kyley-Ann Bair, Class of 2028, Elementary and Special Education Major, Barbara Ann (Folkers) Potter Special Education Scholarship recipient, who said,
“I am Eureka Proud because of the strong community and support that Eureka College provides. The faculty and staff genuinely care about student success. While preparing for a career in special education, I have grown both personally and professionally.”
Also, by Santino Ruma, Class of 2029, Business Major, Henry Klaus Memorial Scholarship Fund recipient, who noted that,
“I am incredibly grateful for this award and for the kindness and generosity behind it. I truly would not be where I am today without the encouragement from family, friends, and donors like you. Your generosity has made a real difference in my life and in the person I am becoming.”
Finally, it will be evident that Eureka College has completed its goal of student success when students become alumni who are on their path to success, emerging leaders in their areas of expertise, engaged with their alma mater, and valuable members of their local communities. The key is to help students become valuable members of their families, society and the economy.
When you are asked what is student success at Eureka College remember Russell, Christina, Jordan and Mike along with Kyley-Ann and Santino. Since 1855 success has been in the College’s DNA.
During the next two years your support of finishing Phase 2 and 3 of the Student Success Center, student scholarships and student success programs will transfer the student success trait to the next generation of alumni who are current students. Please graciously make an annual commitment orplanned gift and engage with the process. There will be more updates in the future. Thank you in advance for caring for students and sharing your treasure and time.
