Eureka College was founded by abolitionists from Kentucky who were members of a religious movement known as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and were committed to providing young people a broad, liberal education. These pioneers believed in an education infused with values as a basis for leadership. Chartered by the Illinois Legislature in 1855, Eureka was the first college in the state and third in the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis. Eureka College was designated by the National Park Service as a Campus Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places in June 2010.

If you know someone committed to excellence, please nominate them. A special awards ceremony and dinner is held during Homecoming weekend to recognize the winners and present their awards.

Outstanding New Alumni Award

Recognizes alumni who, within 15 years of graduation, have demonstrated exceptional achievement in their profession or meaningful service to their community. Typically, one female and one male alumnus are honored each year.

Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award

Honors alumni who, at least 16 years after graduation, have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement, exceptional community service, or a sustained record of excellence and leadership.

Alumni Award of Merit

Recognizes a lifetime of distinguished professional achievement, community service, and dedication. Up to four Awards of Merit may be presented each year, and recipients may receive this honor only once.

Venerated Alumni

Recognizes alumni with over 70 years of exceptional service, leadership, and loyalty to Eureka College. Their profound lifelong devotion is an inspiration and a permanent pillar of the Eureka legacy.

Honorary Alumni Award

Honors individuals who did not attend Eureka College but have made extraordinary contributions to advancing the College, its students, and its mission.

Alumni Board President's Award for Service

This award recognizes individuals whose exceptional service, leadership, and commitment have significantly advanced Eureka College.

President's Servant Leader Award

Recognizes individuals whose meaningful contributions to the College, their profession, and their community, embody the spirit of servant leadership and the enduring values of Eureka College.
