Eureka College was founded by abolitionists from Kentucky who were members of a religious movement known as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and were committed to providing young people a broad, liberal education. These pioneers believed in an education infused with values as a basis for leadership. Chartered by the Illinois Legislature in 1855, Eureka was the first college in the state and third in the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis. Eureka College was designated by the National Park Service as a Campus Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places in June 2010.

Applications for first-year admission to Eureka College are open now. Whether you’re ready to apply or want to learn more about life at Eureka, our Admissions team is here to help you through every step of the process.

General Admission Requirements

First-year applicants should have:

A cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Students with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.25–2.49 on a 4.0 scale may be eligible for conditional admission.

How to Apply

To apply as a first-time, first-year student:

Complete your application.
Apply using the Eureka College Application or Common Application .

Have your current cumulative high school GPA ready.

Submit your most recent high school transcript.
An unofficial transcript may be submitted with your application and must include your name and the name of your high school. If you have already graduated from high school, request that your official high school transcript be sent to admissions@eureka.edu .

Admission to Eureka College is based on your cumulative GPA on a weighted 4.0 scale.

Test-Optional Admission

Submitting ACT and/or SAT scores is optional. Your admission status and financial aid eligibility will not be negatively impacted if you choose not to submit test scores.

If you would like your scores considered and they are not included on your high school transcript, you may submit them directly to Eureka College.

Key Dates & Deadlines

September 15 – Eureka Day

Visit campus and experience Eureka College for yourself. Meet members of the Eureka community, explore campus and learn more about becoming a Red Devil.

September 17 – Learn About EC Online

Can’t make it to campus? Join our first virtual Learn About EC session to hear more about Eureka College and the admissions process. Online sessions will continue every other Thursday.

October 1 – Financial Aid Applications Open

Students can begin completing financial aid forms, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and CSS Profile, for the upcoming academic year.

November 1 – Honors Application Deadline

Students interested in the Honors Program must apply by November 1. This is the only Honors application window.

Eligible students can also learn about available merit-based scholarships with their admission decision.

December 1 – Spring Admission Priority Deadline

Students interested in starting at Eureka College in Spring 2027 are encouraged to complete their application by December 1. After December 1, first-year and transfer applicants will enter the late application petition process, with all application materials due by January 5.

May 1 – National Decision Day

Admitted students should accept their offer of admission and submit their enrollment deposit by May 1.
