Student Spotlight: Baylor Cluver
We are excited to feature Baylor Cluver in our Student Spotlight! She is a senior majoring in music (vocal performance) with a minor in psychology.
Baylor is deeply connected to Eureka College, as she comes from a long line of family members who have attended—she is number 13! Her passion for music and performing initially had her considering a large music conservatory or university, but she ultimately chose Eureka College as a fellow in the Ronald W. Reagan Leadership Program.
As graduation approaches, Baylor plans to pursue a career in music and theatre, performing on stages and screens worldwide. She also hopes to use her psychology minor to bring authenticity to her performances and advocate for mental health awareness and support.
Baylor’s involvement on campus is nothing short of remarkable. In addition to being a Reagan Fellow, she serves as the Student Body Vice President, President of the Eureka College Chorale, and a member of the Eureka College Chamber Singers. She also works at the Red Devil Depot, performs with the Opera/Lyric Theatre Workshop, has appeared in multiple campus theatrical productions, and tutors in music theory. She has competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) vocal competitions during her sophomore, junior, and senior years, competing against students from Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. She earned third place in the Musical Theatre competition and advanced to the National Round twice!
Last summer, Baylor attended the London Summer Music Theatre Academy, where she was part of the original cast of Animal Farm: A Twisted Animal Tale, an Off-West End musical based on George Orwell’s novel. She played one of the lead roles, Clover, originating the character in front of London audiences. Through this program, she also made her West End debut at the Crazy Coqs Cabaret Club, performing both Golden Age and contemporary musical theatre repertoire.
Her favorite place on campus is The Chapel, which she describes as her home away from home. It’s a space where she has spent countless hours relaxing, learning, practicing, conversing, and studying. She loves hearing the halls filled with students and faculty practicing and performing all genres of music, both vocal and instrumental, as she pushes open its heavy doors.
Outside of class, Baylor enjoys working out, meditating, spending time with close friends, reading, watching and reviewing films, cooking, baking, and writing music.
One of her proudest moments at Eureka College was hosting her Junior Recital last spring. McCallister Hall was filled with lifelong supporters, friends, family, past and present teachers, and even students and professors she had never met. The room buzzed with excitement as all of her influential role models—from childhood to today—gathered to celebrate the arts together.
Now, as she prepares for graduation, Baylor invites you to experience her passion for music firsthand. Join us for her Senior Recital on April 12 at 2 p.m. in McCallister Hall, where she will showcase her vocal talents and celebrate this milestone moment.
Congratulations, Baylor, on all of your accomplishments! We can't wait to see where your talents take you next.
