Achievements
Bobbie (Jean Smith) Davis ‘55 was posthumously recognized for her extraordinary contributions at Long Beach City College by renaming the Liberal Arts Campus Library as the Bobbie Smith Library. In addition, the Bobbie Smith Scholarship Fund was established to support BIPOC students.
Grace Dearhammer ’24 an MDiv student and Disciples Divinity Scholar at the University of Chicago is participating in an internship in the Philippines. She along with other seminarians are working alongside recovery teams after a devastating typhoon hit the region.
Judith Guy ‘12 is the new Senior Minister of Cascade Christian Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as of August 31, 2025. She had served the Mackinaw (Illinois) Christian Church since 2017.
Kip Hayden ‘76 and Peg (Cochran) Hayden ‘76 recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Allison (Rap) Johnsen, ’10 celebrated her marriage to Nathan Johnsen, taking their wedding photos in the Chapel on campus.
Rick Schwab, ’67 is currently living in East Peoria. He enjoyed life at Eureka College in the 1960s, where he played basketball all four years for Doc Traister and was fortunate to set a career scoring record at that time. Rick taught at Central Junior High School in East Peoria for 36 years. He later began a career in property assessment and continues to work for Tazewell County as Board of Review Chairman. He married Joan in 1967. They have a son and daughter, both of whom are educators.
Hayden Skaggs, ’25 has been named a Disciples Divinity House Scholar joining the MDiv and MA programs at the University of Chicago Divinity School.
