

Author Reading with Joe Chianakas
Eureka College is pleased to announce that alumnus and acclaimed author Joe Chianakas will return to campus for a special reading on Thursday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Terrill Rooms.
Chianakas, a 2001 graduate of Eureka College, is known for a dynamic body of work that spans young adult fiction, horror, and thriller genres. His publications include Singlets and Secrets and Pride and Persistence, the latter recognized as a finalist for Imaginarium’s 2025 Best Young Adult Novel Award. His horror novel Darkness Calls was named a finalist for Imaginarium’s 2026 Horror Book of the Year Award, and he is widely recognized for his popular Rabbit in Red trilogy.
Currently residing in Peoria with his husband, Chianakas teaches communication at Illinois Central College, where he brings his passion for storytelling and creativity into the classroom.
This literary event is partially funded by NEH's Spotlight on the Humanities in Higher Education grant awarded to the Eureka College Humanities Division. The evening will feature a reading from Chianakas’s works, followed by opportunities for engagement and conversation.
The event is free and open to the public.
