RESEARCH INTERESTS:
My research interest is in environmental chemistry, more specifically the detection, quantification, and remediation of pollutants in the environment.
TEACHING INTERESTS:
I teach chemistry and physics course here at Eureka College. This includes Introduction to Physical Science, General Chemistry, Physics, Organic Chemistry, and Instrumental Analysis. I am also interested in astronomy and environmental science. Throughout all of my courses, I really strive to make people see how science is interesting and fun.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY:
I am a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), I was inducted into Sigma Zeta here at Eureka last year, and I participate in outreach events show casing science through hands-on demonstrations.
I have given many scientific presentations at local, national, and international conferences. In addition, I have published over 10 articles in chemistry journals including Nano Letters, Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Environmental Science and Technology.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
I have gone to a local school for a science day, which included science demonstrations and hands-on events. I would like to continue to do this at more schools.
UNIQUELY EUREKA EXPERIENCE:
I love that at Eureka College a professor can really get to know their students. I can joke with my students and I really do care how they do in my class and how they are doing outside of school.
ABOUT:
I grew up in El Paso and am glad to be back in the area. I have a husband and a son, both who bring joy to my life.
