RESEARCH INTERESTS:
I am currently doing research on rapidly increasing farmland prices. I am concerned that this may be a bubble, which could have many long term consequences.
TEACHING INTERESTS:
I greatly enjoy teaching a variety of management and marketing courses at Eureka College. These include BUA 211-Personal Finance, BUA 220-Management, BUA 230-Marketing, BUA 321W- Human Resources Management, BUA 324-Theory of Constraints, and BUA334-Advertising. I also enjoy teaching ECC490W-Ethical Reasoning Seminar with a focus upon Decision Making.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY:
I recently served as President of MBAA International. MBAA International is in its 57th year of holding conferences to promote the sharing of research and teaching in the area of Business Administration. I currently serve on the advsiory council for MBAA International. Over 700 members registered for the most recent conference in Chicago. I have been a member of MBAA International since 1992.
I am Past President of the North American Management Society. I have served as a Board Member of NAMS since 1996. I have been a member of NAMS since 1992.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
I serve as a supply pastor at College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Aledo, Illinois as needed. I have been a member of a Eureka College Relay for Life team 2005 to present. I have served as a liturgist and have assisted with the Snak Pak program at Eureka Christian Church. I have participated in Relay for Life for many years.
UNIQUELY EUREKA EXPERIENCE:
In 2013 & 2014, Prof. Marge Rubash (BUA) & I took a group of students to London for a two week Eureka College course, London Live 201x! This course explores the culture and economics of the United Kingdom.
Prof. Rhea Edge (ART) co-taught this course with me in 2015 & 2016. Prof. William Lally and Jill Fehr co-taught htis course with me in 2019.
ABOUT:
I grew up on a diversified livestock and crop farm near Aledo, Illinois. My family has been raising registered Aberdeen Angus beef cattle since 1937. I continue to be involved in the Angus cattle operations at Bluff View Farms, my family farm.
I greatly enjoy traveling. As a college freshman, I set a goal to travel in all fifty states. I have now accomplished that goal.
In the past I have traveled in Uruguay, China, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
